Bovey Tracey lies in the foothills of Dartmoor, with an abundance of the key constituents of good pottery – rich clay, fresh water and a source of fuel. In fact, Josiah Wedgwood discovered Devon clay begin used at the Bovey Tracey pottery, and thereafter had clay transported back to Staffordshire for his own use in the Wedgwood kilns. Much of that original pottery still stands, just a few yards away from our own building.When to visit us
The Pottery is open seven days a week, 10am – 5.00pm come rain or shine, including Bank Holidays with the exception of Christmas week closing from Christmas Eve. During the summer holidays, half terms and bank holidays, the opening times are 10.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Free pottery tour available Monday to Friday excluding public holidays.
